Reception:

Phonics/English:

Tricky word test! Ask your child to write the following tricky words down: he, she, you, the, a, my, was, they.

Read and enjoy the story Hansel and Gretel.

Can you draw a picture of the house they find?

Why do you think the children liked the look of the house?

Maths:

Let's get Sharing

Watch the video below to help learn about sharing, then have a go at the challenge attached at the bottom of the page.

Can you show me your sharing circles in your Maths books?

Art:

To continue our Science theme of learning about flowers, layer up petals you find in the garden to create your own Spring scene.

Use a pencil to help create more definition on your artwork, showing what each part of your picture is of 😊

Here are some ideas:

Using our senses:

Ask your child to pick a window in the house. Ask them to stand there for a few minutes and take a look at what they can see and write or draw them down.

Now ask them to try this activity again but this time ask them what they can hear? Write or draw these down.

Ask your child to help find a piece of material in the house and then blindfold them. What can they see? Which sense do they use now?

Ask them to now cover their ears and look outside the window. What do they hear

Year 1:

Phonics:

We are looking at alternative spellings  of the ‘ai’ sound.

Phoneme spotter: Ask your child to read the following sentences, can they spot each of the ‘ai’ sounds? Could they circle or highlight wherever they hear an ‘ai’ sound?

Snakes and ladders is a good game to play.  If a lady, in a grey apron, is on a train that gets delayed, should she complain?  Can a snail get on a plane to go away on holiday?

Can you go on a hunt around the house and write down a list of other things you can spot with the ‘ai’ sound in – e.g: like, rail, snail, lay

Maths: Fractions

Can you remember what a half and a quarter is? Here are some videos to help remind you!
