On the afternoon of November 26th, Whitebeam welcomed parents and carers into the classroom to take part in a pizza making session as part of our Science topic of How to Stay Healthy. The children had been looking at the importance of a healthy diet without sacrificing the yumminess of pizzas.
After looking at all the food groups and how much of each we should be eating, everyone designed their own pizza trying to use healthy alternatives.
Lots of ingredients arrived in the morning ready for the making in the afternoon. No ready-made bases here; everyone soon had their hands in sticky dough after carefully measuring out flour, water, oil and yeast. Lots of kneading quickly made sticky dough into firm bases ready for the spectacular toppings, then it was into the oven.
After a good bake and a quick cool down, all the pizzas looked far too tempting to take home and, well, they had to be tasted, didn’t they!
Thank you to all the parents for helping throughout the afternoon (especially with the washing up!).
