Walk around Castle Acre

A Walk Around the Village

On May 2nd Whitebeam Class went for a walk around the village because our topic is Our Local Area.

We talked about how Castle Acre has changed, it's population and how do we know some places in the village are very old and how old are they.

We did a traffic survey at the Bailey Gate and nearly everybody who saw us when they were in their cars stopped for a second and gave us a wave.

Even though it was a bit wet, I think all the members of Whitebeam really enjoyed it.

We should thank Mrs Stuart for taking Whitebeam members for the walk round the village and then we should thank Mrs Bridgeman and Mrs Easter for telling us about Castle Acre.

A Walk in the Village

On the 2nd May we went on a village walk. First we looked at the semi-detached houses, detached houses and bungalows. Then we saw some shops. Mrs Stuart and Mrs Easter were marking up a tally of things we had to look out for. After that we crossed the road and saw a long building which was ten houses in one. This is called a terrace.

Soon we headed for the Bailey Gate and spotted cars and vans for a traffic survey.

I saw a door that said 'Albert Victor' and Mrs Stuart said, "It used to be a pub." Mrs Bridgeman told us about a house where special travellers called pilgrims could sleep when they were travelling a long way.

When we were heading back to school we were still looking for things. We saw some things on the roof of a house and Mrs Stuart said they were called solar panels. They use the sun to make electricity and they are modern.

I think it was a lovely day because it was fun learning about the village.
